Dear Parents, the schools football league finally ended last Tuesday at Ormskirk High school. St. Anne's, A team, were in joint 1st place with Town Green, though we had played 1 game more. We also had a strong B Team, who had some really good results including a draw with Town Green before Christmas. Our hope to win the league was in our own hands-to play our remaining two matches, against our B Team and Town Greens A Team, and win both. Our B team, were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Town green, and followed that up with holding our A Team to a 1-1 draw- a really good match as you can imagine. This meant we could not win the league, but still had to play Town green-the players were very focused and won, narrowly-1-0.
In respect we dropped points against Tarleton County Primary, last time out-when, in a one sided game, we struggled to get the ball in the net. and drew 1-1.
My thanks to Mr Scott, without whom, we could have taken only one team-we have tried hard to include all year 6 boys, and 1 very good girl- who attended training and trials in the football, and succeeded. We have swapped around some players, who deserved the chance to play in the A Team-13 in a 7-a-side team, and in total used 23 pupils. Our teams finished 2nd and 4th, and I was very happy with the effort and commitment shown this season, as always!
Thanks Mr. Thomas.
